Little Stories of Vanguard - Downtown New York

2014

A project created and organized by Suzy Capó, the program retells the history of the No Wave underground film scene, which bloomed in the Lower East Side from 1976 to 1987. Curated by Kyle Stephan, the program included films ranging from influential avant garde classics from the 1960s, such as Jack Smith’s Flaming Creatures, to emblematic No Wave films shot in Super-8 and starring celebrities from the effervescent music scene of the time, like the musician Arto Lindsay.

Programmed in November and December 2014 at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in São Paulo.
